Joris Voorn returns to Melbourne for the Official Launch of his brand new Balance CD. His sets in Melbourne are legendary – be sure to witness the man in action in a proper environment – in the Brown Alley main room. Joining him will be Nic Fanciulli who will be bringing his deep chuggy tech house sound back to Brown Alley. Darkbeat, Sunny, and Hardware crews will be responsible for production on the evening – say no more.
Whether you witnessed the man literally destroy Digital Festival or his recent set at Prince Of Wales last Easter – you cannot deny Joris Voorn has the skills to pay the bills. Joris Voorn is a producer and DJ from Rotterdam, Netherlands. Being raised up in a musical family, music became a big part of his life. Around 1995 electronic music caught his attention. Getting deeper into this music when he started DJing in 1997, Joris developed an interest in techno and house music. Concerning his background, Joris started thinking about making his own music and bought the versatile MC-303 groovebox to experiment with synth sounds and drumloops.
As a DJ and live performer Joris has travelled the globe. He has performed around all Europe, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Brasil, Colombia, Israel, Detroit and New York.
Together with his friend Edwin Oosterwal the ejected record label was established at the end of 2006. Their first EP as Rejected became an instant succes and was played out by almost every self respecting DJ around the globe. With Rejected Joris is working on a more club oriented contemporary sound instead of deep electronic music excursions.
He has just completed the latest installment in the Balance Series which contains no less than 102 tracks – in his own words
’The process of making this mix has been more like painting with sound rather than mixing the end of one track with the beginning of another. Working this way has been very interesting for me and made the project into something very different than a conventional dj mix cd’
Nic Fanciulli is a young and fresh DJ, producer and remixer – currently one of the hottest rising talents in the UK. After destroying it for the Darkbeat 5th Birthday we welcome Nic back to Melbourne !
From being a shy, talented DJ plying his trade as resident at his local club, to becoming a global superstar, the rise and rise of Nic Fanciulli has been well documented. He has graced countless covers of the most respected dance publications whilst his name repeatedly pops up when clubbers discuss the finest DJ talent in recent years.
2007 saw Nic join forces with James Zabiela for their One+One alliance, causing something of a press frenzy they toured across the globe, made some original productions in the form of ‘No Pressure’ and ‘Rover’ and released a double CD. Wasting no time Nic then went back in the studio with Skylark partner Andy and the result was their first artist album; ‘I-Panik’ was released in November of 2007 with a full remix package coming in Spring 2008. The likes of Laurent Garnier praised the album and the press were blown away – citing it as an intelligent piece of electronica. The remix package sees contributions from acts as diverse as Joris Voorn, Funk Dvoid, Joel Mull, and many others.
With a list of achievements that already overshadows many DJs ten years his senior, its clear that Nic Fanciulli has proven how combining genuine talent with dedication can go a long way. And whilst his record label, residencies, productions and compilations continue to open the ears of thousands of people across the planet, the fact he has a whole host of future projects up his sleeve reveals the best is still to come…
